A door knocker is the first piece of hardware a visitor touches. Choosing one comes down to three things: the style of the door, the size, and the finish.
Georgian homes suit urn and ring knockers such as SE-3001. Victorian doors carry heavier, ornate designs like the Medusa head SE-3017. Cottages and country doors look right with animal motifs, for example the horse head SE-3005.
Most front doors take a knocker between 150mm and 210mm. Smaller 110 to 125mm designs suit narrow or cottage doors.
Polished lacquered brass (BPL) keeps its shine for years. Antique and Florentine bronze finishes hide fingerprints and weather well. See our finishes guide.
